On the 31st August 2019 we held our annual Open Day at The Knights Academy of Dance in The Mick Jagger Centre, Dartford The day offers the chance for existing and potential students to get a taster of what it is we do here at the Academy. Children get the opportunity to take part in classes with current students as well as learn & showcase a routine.
We welcome children of all abilities and were overjoyed with the response for this year’s Open Day. We were so impressed by how all the children got involved and interacted with the teachers and current students. The day kicked off with some warm up exercises to ease everyone in. From singing chants to team work getting to building objects with our bodies, we had fun & giggles getting to know each other.
After the warm up session the children broke out into age groups. The second session offered the children a chance to get a taste of the professional side of Knights and what it looks like to take part in a real lesson, learn a dance routine and perfect their techniques with the support of our teachers.
Our Minis worked on a Ballet number with Miss Charlie and pretended to be Prince and Princesses. Their level of concentration and response to instruction was impeccable and they all enjoyed the formations and new moves.
Our Inters began with some warm up techniques to ensure their muscles were ready and warm to avoid injury. From leaps to stretches Miss Aideen led the way ensuring all the children were using the correct techniques. Once the warm up was over the real fun began with Bruno Mars Uptown Funk leading the performance number.
All the children showed real potential with how quickly they picked up the routine with enthusiasm and confidence.
The day came to an end with an outstanding showcase from our current students. We were so happy to see so many new faces come and explore what Knights Academy has to offer and we hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did !
